Hot Trends For 2013

There are so many different trends for weddings this year that 2013 will be a fantastic year to get married.

Whatever your budget and style feel free to choose the elements that suit you most and then weave them together for a truly unique look!

Never has it been more true to follow the “Something old, something new, something borrowed, something Blue”.  Vintage finds, up-cycling items and DIY weddings all fit into this year perfectly whatever your style or budget.  Blue is a strong trend for this year!  Blue represents ‘trust’, ‘commitment’ and says that you’re ‘dependable’. Weave it into a coastal or seaside theme or add dusky pinks, lilacs and violets for a country feel.  Blue when used for Table Stationery  and accessories will not only look amazing but also  provide contrast and a contemporary feel.

Use delicate flowers to create a mix when placed amongst modern and vintage containers.

There is a huge Retro or ‘vintage’ feel in weddings this year.  We have been busy using some typeface that reflects the country fete posters and banners.  Hand picked flowers in mis-matched containers will give your Wedding day that home-spun retro feel that is completely on trend for this year!  Jam jars, old fashioned tins and an assortment of glass bottles and vases will all add to the charm of the day.  Colour wise, well you can go for absolutely anything, whether its pale pinks with silver or navy, or peach with pale sage or teale.  For those of you who really love colour then go bold with red, blue, hot pinks and oranges.  The more your colours clash the better the overall look will be!  Contrasting colours and textures will be dramatic and give your reception a real Wow factor.  Think hot pinks next to burnt oranges, all the vibrant colours next to the crips white table linen.

Bold patterns and stripes will be big in 2013.  Big impact flowers look striking as buttonholes and have created some new Invitations and table stationery to complete the look!

Another look will be Romantic England, a great British wedding, with the emphasis on Seasonal, Natural and Rustic.  Bridal Crowns are bang on trend with this.  Don’t be fooled though, as for this look to work you need careful attention to detail.  Natural greens next to berry shades, roses and herbs.  Think garden party, natural charm, barns and bunting, perhaps even garden games, cricket bats or croquet on the lawn.  Fantastic for Easter and Summer weddings.  Still classic but very relaxed and informal with smaller table settings to make the whole day feel more intimate for your guests.  Use buttons to add something extra to your napkin dressing, wired button hearts make fabulous table gifts or they can be used to pin messages from your guests onto a fabric board.

Signing and Message Boards will make your guests really feel that they are a lasting part of your Wedding Day.

This of course leads us Vintage Glamour, which will take over from the shabby chic we have seen before.  A lot of inspiration for this look seems to have come from the Roaring 1920s.  We have seen lots of lace and pearls to add drama to this look.  Candelabra draped with strings of pearls can look stunning.   Weddings will have a nostalgic feel, letterpress stationery, beautiful china, contrasting linens, pristine glassware.  By placing the classic vintage next to the rustic and natural you will be leading the trend for 2013.

Brides need to aim for a balance between formal and informal to truly achieve this look. Lots of Olive greens next to dusky pinks, peaches, powder blues and antique lilacs set against silvers and greys.

Our final prediction is all about colour!  Bright and boldly coloured gem stones will creep into weddings this year with venues decorated with coloured glass.  Think of morcoccan colours, or Quality Street sweet wrappers.  Clashing colours of lime, aqua blue, purples, pinks and reds!  Sumptious fabrics, velvets and satin cushions with coloured tea lights or dramatic lanterns to link your outdoor areas to your Wedding Breakfast room.

We are getting ready for another amazingly busy year at the Hattie Boo Studio, with new ideas and designs being added to the website ready for our new launch in 2013!

Lots to look forward too!
